Where do good ideas come from? Anywhere and everywhere, of course. Which is why we love Springwise (http://www.springwise.com) and, especially, its weekly email newsletter. There are other trendspotters out there, but Springwise delivers two things in particular that we really appreciate: (1) a truly international purview, and (2) a consistently sharp editorial filter that manages to deliver information that is neither too much nor too little in quantity, too mundane or too obscure in quality.
Springwise, based in Amsterdam, claims a network of some 8,000 spotters in 70 countries worldwide. Given the breadth of their coverage, we believe it. They describe their mission as scanning the globe for “the most promising business ventures, ideas and concepts that are ready for regional or international adaptation, expansion, partnering, investments or cooperation.” Marketing inspirations arise pretty naturally out of that mix, too. We like to scan the newsletter and see if any sparks fly that we can use/adapt for current projects; we’ll also save particularly promising ideas in our inspirations file.
